Cooling towers and evaporative condensers

In cooling tower - evaporative cooler with the Prime purpose of cooling water, not air. Normal forms are water and air in a counter-flow or cross-flow, although towers are built with parallel thread (see Fig. 22.5).

This is a complex process that cannot be simplified into a state of complete balance from which to work back to the intended operating point, therefore, the factors used for the design and applications that are based on similar devices.

The heat from the water is transferred to the air, so the available heating air will depend on its initial enthalpy. It is usually expressed in terms of the environment wet bulb temperature, with two almost synonymous and humid more easily recognizable. It is used as a criterion to describe the efficiency of the approach outlet water temperature of the environment wet bulb temperature. Two could only meet eventually, in the tower, having air flow infinitely more than the consumption of water, so the term is descriptive, not a clear indication of the tower efficiency.

Assuming that the massive flows of air and water, to be equal, the approximate balance can be found.
