Sight glass

Sight glass is installed in the liquid line, but also in the small commercial systems. He gives a visual indication that the refrigerant in this line is in a liquid state. It is used:
  • to assess the correct filling during installation;
  • check that the system is fully charged within operating and maintenance (although the air bubbles in the sight glass also occur if the filter-drier in the liquid line is blocked).
Lack of refrigerant, for example. due to leakage, significantly reduces the effectiveness of the system. More detailed information is given in the good Practice Guide 178.
