Technical information Air-Conditioning Commercial Absorption System

Commercial Systems Absorption

Absorption systems are successfully used for air-conditioning comfort cooling plants. Such systems may also be used for heating. Some units use ammonia-vater-hydrogen in a continuous loop. Others use water as the refrigerant and various chemicals as a shock absorber.

Systems with water as the refrigerant and lithium bromide as the absorber shown in Fig. 17 to 32. Steam heat applied to the generator leaks of water vapor (red dots) and a weak solution to the separator. Liquid lithium bromide (shown in black) then gravity flow through the heat exchanger. It flows absorber, where it absorbs water evaporated. Strong solution (black dots) settles on the bottom of the absorber. It returns to the generator after passing through the heat exchanger. Pressure difference is supported by the pressure of the liquid lithium bromide.

Water vapor (red dots) in the separator rises to the condenser. No, it thickens and becomes water. Water flows by gravity through the hole in the evaporator. Water evaporates at a low temperature, thanks to an almost perfect vacuum in the system.

Water vapor is absorbed by the lithium bromide (black). Please note that the absorber and condensers are cooled by water coils. The condenser water is then taken to the tower. It is cooled and use them again. Condensing pressure is about 50 mm to 60 mm Hg (abou t 1 inch, or 6.9 kPa). Evaporating pressure 8 mm 10 mm RT. metro (about 0,17 psia or 1.2 kPa). Lithium chro-mate is often used as a corrosion inhibitor.
