Technical information Chillers How to detect: Condenser volume is too small

How to determine: Capacitor volume is too small

  • Specific to the chillers and heat pumps without liquid receiver with comparatively higher evaporator of the internal volume
  • In nominal terms, the condensing pressure and hypothermia may be normal
  • At low loads and low temperatures refrigerant boiling point more accumulates in the condenser, increase condensing temperature and subcooling, and in case of overload
  • Check the evaporator and condenser internal volumes
  • Consider installing a liquid receiver
How to determine: Oil condenser
  • Specific to the chillers and heat pumps without liquid receiver
  • Low superheat suction gas and short running times to increase the amount of oil coming out of the compressor
  • Compressor oil charge may be more than capacitor internal volume
  • For collection of oil in the capacitor reduces the size of the condensation surface. This will increase the temperature of condensation
  • Check the oil level in the compressor, if possible.

Check the compressor running times and suction gas superheat
How to determine: non-condensable gases
  • Non-condensable gases have the same effect as excessive. Condensing pressure will rise and will not be freezing temperatures.
  • Pressure gauge can sometimes vibrate because of non-condensable gases
  • Non-condensable gases will collect in the top of the condenser, which makes it the best place to purge system

How to determine: the Dirt in the water capacitor

  • Of admixtures in water or in brine side may cause clogging or even block some water channels. This will increase pressure condensing
  • Capacitor can be cleaned by pumping water in the opposite direction compared to the normal operation. Cleaning agents can also be used
  • Recommended filters used for plate heat exchangers
How to determine: the Air in the water side of conden
  • The air in the direction of the condenser water heat transfer impai
  • The air in the circulation pump will reduce the water or brine flow
  • In addition to increasing the condensation temperature, air tours can lead characteristic noise, which will help to identify the cause of the problem
  • Verify that the expansion tank (A) is used on the discharge side of the circulating pump and pressure inside the tank properly
How to determine: High loads from the suction side
  • On a hot day with high humidity, download refrigerant from the system of air conditioning may exceed refrigerant cooler power of water
  • If the expansion valve (A) does not have the MOP function, the suction pressure (B) will be high. Refrigerant capacity will increase causing a high load on the condenser and the high condensing temperature (C)
Possible causes for the low condensing pressure
  • Condenser water flow too high
  • Water inlet temperature too low
  • Defective valves of the compressor
