Technical information Chillers Refrigeration System Efficiency

Cooling System Efficiency

The effect of cooling refrigeration systems, as a rule, quantitatively tonnes of refrigeration. The device is derived from the cooling rate available in the hour from 1 ton (1000 kg) of melting ice.

Imperial units are still widely used in refrigeration and air conditioning engineers, so you need to know energy equivalents.

1 Ton of Refrigeration (TR) = 3023 kcal/h = 3.51 kWthermal = 12000 Btu/hr

Commonly used indicators of quality for comparison refrigeration systems Coefficient of efficiency, Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) and specific Power Consumption (kW/TR). They are defined as follows:

If both the effect of cooling and compressor operation (or input power) are accounted for in the same units (TR or kcal/h / kW or Btu/hr), ratio

CC = the Effect of Cooling/Work done

If the refrigerating effect is quantitatively in Btu/hr and the work done in watts (W)coefficient

EER = Cooling Effect (BTU/h)/the Work done (W)

Above COP or EER means better efficiency.

Other common and clear quality-a

Specific power consumption = consumption (kW/Cooling effect (TR)

The decrease in specific energy consumption means higher efficiency..
