Inter-fuel Substitution: energy Savings through the Use of Absorption Chillers

The Economics of transition from the vapor compression system vapor absorption system will depend on the cost of heat energy used and the relative price of electricity. It is likely to be cost-effective in areas where heat or inexpensive sources of thermal energy. Techno-economy-this is a very specific situation and may not be generalized.

For new projects, the use of absorption chillers can facilitate work with a smaller Contract kVA Demand, less transformer and other leading to significant cost savings in plants of the electrical installation; this should be also considered in the calculation of the savings.

Very low temperature cooling (i.e. < -40 C), the possibility of a Hybrid chillers can be considered. In Hybrid refrigeration, capacitors low temperature vapour compression machines can be cooled by cooling water of Absorption Chillers.

In the USA, in the presence of cheap natural gas, along with absorption chillers use of gas engine compressors also aggressively promoted. A similar situation is likely, in India, the increasing availability of natural gas...
