Technical information Refrigeration Compressor Motor Cooling

Compressor Cooling Of The Engine

In hermetic compressors, electric motor, which drives the compressor is given in the one case of the compressor. As the motor is running rotation of the compressor, the electrical energy is converted into mechanical energy and heat energy. This heat must be removed, or it will build, causing the compressor and motor damage. In serviceable-hermetic and welded sealed design, cold refrigerant vapour at the outlet of the evaporator is used to cool the motor windings. This is done before the refrigerant enters the suction side of the compressor.

In an open design, electrical motors are cooled by the air around them. When the compressor is driven by an internal combustion engine, engine, or water-cooled or air-cooled, just as a car engine.
