Compressor design

Piston compressors are driven by electric motors. Hermetic compressors, welded casing, which prevents the service of the compressor in the field. These "welded sealants" are most popular for reciprocating compressors 10 tons or less. Their use is growing in the range of 10-20 tons.

"Fit" or "bolt sealants" can be dismantled for field service. While sealed welded structure to organize the engine and compressor shaft vertically, serviced sealants are shaft oriented horizontally.

Open piston compressor has one end of the shaft open atmosphere. From the crankshaft extends beyond Carter, it can be attached to different power sources. Mechanical seal is used at the point where the shaft passes through the compressor casing to prevent leakage of refrigerant.
