Technical information Air-Conditioning Liquid Refrigerant Lines

The Liquid Refrigerant Lines

Fluid lines, as a rule, does not present any design problems. Refrigeration oil in liquid form is fairly mixed with common refrigerants, in order to provide adequate mix and positive oil return. The following factors should be considered when determining the liquid line:
  • Fluid lines, including interrelated valves and accessories shall be of sufficient size to prevent excessive pressure drops.
  • When interconnecting condensing units with capacitor receivers or evaporative condensers, fluid lines from each unit should be given in the total liquid line. Each block must accede to the total liquid line is significantly lower receivers possible, with at least 2 feet preferred. Total liquid line should rise to the ceiling in the engine room. On added the head of fluids to prevent, to the extent possible, the hot gas blowing back from the receivers.
  • All liquid line of the receivers of the General line should have equal pressure drops to ensure that, as nearly as possible, equal to the fluid flow and prevent the blowing of gas.
  • Remove all liquid-line filters of condensing units and install them side by side in the total liquid line at ceiling level.
  • Hot gas blowing from the receivers can be compressed in reasonable quantities of liquid subcoolers, as indicated for the regular condensing units, with a minimum Elevator 60 feet to 80 degrees Fahrenheit average temperature of condensation.
  • Interconnect all the liquid receivers evaporative condensers above liquid level for pressure gas.
  • General and related liquid line, should have an area equal to the sum of the squares of the individual lines.

Install manual shutoff valve on the liquid line from each receiver. Where a reduction in the size of the pipe is necessary to ensure sufficient speed gas capture oil to the vertical risers on partial loads, the more pressure drops will be imposed at full load. It may be, as a rule, is compensated by more resize horizontally and down corner of the line to keep the total pressure drop at the desired level.
