Centrifugal compressors are available for cooling duty as an integral part of centrifugal chillers. Due to the relatively flat head-power characteristics of centrifugal compressors and by way of a limitation of the operating range, the component parts of centrifugal refrigeration systems have to be very carefully balanced.
