Hot Gas Defrost Problems

Hot gas valve is usually managed by a solenoid valve. Problems may occur with electromagnetic valve in two ways:
  • Solenoid valve is stuck closed. If the evaporator is overloaded with ice, electrical solenoid coil, perhaps failed (open circuit) or timer may not operate correctly Both of these problems can be checked with the help of an electric drive.
  • If the electrical system is working correctly, the problem is likely to be stuck in the solenoid valve stem. Rap valve body, as well as to defrost timer is closed. If the valve is out of control, you can hear the rush of hot gas. The line between electromagnetic and evaporator and to become warm to the touch.
  • Solenoid valve is stuck open, as shown in Figure 12-83. If the evaporator and the line between the hot gas solenoid and evaporator warm, the valve is stuck open. Refer again to Fig. 12-83. The hot gas will be shown in color.) Again, rap valve sharply, while the timer is not open. If the valve closes, the low pressure side begin to decline immediately. Evaporator will begin cooling and freezing.
If the valve fails after trying these solutions, it should be removed and replaced.
