Ice rinks and equipment for other winter sports
Some ice rinks serve specific purposes, for example, for leisure or skating sport, hockey and Curling, while others have a common goal, who in different times and are used for different types of events. The desired ice temperatures9 usually -5C (23F) for ice hockey-3.5C (26F) in figure skating, and -2C (28F) for Amateur skiing. Ice is held on the thickness of about 25 mm (1 in), passing either cold brine or direct refrigerant (R-22 or ammonia) through a grid of pipes in the ice. Brine or refrigerant temperature usually takes about 5C (9F) below the desired temperature of ice.
