Leakage Detection Of Ammonia

Leakage detection (small quantities of ammonia) when burning sulfur candle is used. Candle will give off a very thick, white smoke where it touches the leak of ammonia. Using phenolphthalein paper is also considered a good test. Tiny traces of ammonia will moistened paper strip, in turn pink. Large ammonia will phenolphthalein paper to turn in a bright red color.
