Technical information Compressors Using screw compressors

With the help of screw compressors

A screw compressor can operate at higher pressure ratios, because it has a relatively small amount of clearance and, therefore, will be able to handle in one compression pressure difference, which would require a two-stage piston compressor. However, economizer chains (also called liquid subcooler) can increase their potential and enhance its effectiveness. In its turn, is heat exchanger which, like the intercooler described above, uses a pool of liquid refrigerant in the intermediate temperature and pressure of cooling liquid is collected evaporators.

This improves the performance of the compressor and its effectiveness. Gas generated in turn, is taken to intermediate pressure clicking on the housing screw compressor. Economizers, as intercoolers are available in the form of open and closed types, and provides all the advantages of liquid subcooling, but no gas intercooling is mandatory, and therefore smaller vessels.

For " open " type economiser, care is required to ensure that enough pressure is available for a low stage expansion valve to work properly.

In two stages operation of screw compressors can also bring energy efficiency for high-compression systems, and therefore they must be investigated...
