Calcium Chloride Refrigerants

Calcium chloride (CaCl2) is used only in commercial refrigeration installations. Calcium chloride is used as a common carrier for cooling.

Brine systems are used in large installations where there is a risk of leakage. They are also used in places where the temperature varies in space to store in the refrigerator. The brine is cooled by direct expansion of the refrigerant. It is pumped through a material or space for cooling. Here, it absorbs the sensible heat.

Most modern factories work with brine at low temperature. This allows the use of less brine, less pipes and pipes of smaller diameter and less pumps. It also reduces pumping costs. Instead of cooling of large amounts of sea water to the desired temperature, the same number of units of refrigerating equipment is used for cooling the lower volume of brine to a lower temperature.
This leads to even more savings. Using extremely low-freezing brine, such as calcium chloride, preferably in the case of shell-type cooler. Brine with the least possible freezing item 6F (21C) may harden under high vacuum on the cold side of the cooling unit. This can cause considerable damage and loss of working time. There are some cases in which the cooler was destroyed.
